After accepting an invitation from three enigmatic women, Dom is drawn into a claustrophobic nocturnal ritual where seduction gradually gives way to humiliation, confession, and a bizarre form of rebirth.
SYNOPSIS
‘The Witches’ originated during a series of improvisation workshops initiated in 2025.
We are a fluid and intentionally undefined collective of professional and non-professional performers led by filmmaker Roberto Prestia.
The collective emerged from a desire to develop a collaborative and self-sustaining approach to filmmaking, one that privileges encounter, improvisation, and uncertainty over predetermined narratives.
Prior to each workshop, individual conversations were held with the performers around personal experiences, existential concerns, recurring emotions, and subjects they felt naturally drawn to explore. These conversations became the basis for a series of structured improvisational scenarios.
Each participant receives a private brief containing information about their character, objectives, and fragments of the situation they are entering. No performer possesses the complete picture.
Once the workshop begins, no further direction is given. The camera remains present as an observer while the performers navigate the unfolding situation using only the information contained in their briefs.
The Witches is a ten-minute film extracted from a two-hours uninterrupted improvisation.
The project is part of an ongoing investigation into cinema as a space of collective creation, where authorship is distributed, control is partially surrendered, and the boundary between performance, ritual, play, and lived experience becomes increasingly unstable.
STATEMENT
2026: short film. An experiment on collaborative and self-sustainable filmmaking.
